The Inside Out Flow

This week, guest preacher Pastor Josh Kelsey encourages us to focus on the internal self and teaches us strategies that we can implement to be renewed from the inside out. In a time where our success is defined on what is seen, he challenges us to develop an internal rhythm by practicing the disciplines of abstinence: solitude, fasting, sabbath, submission, and silence. In this season, let’s choose to focus on seeking God, not external successes, and see the fruit of a life lived from the inside out.

In this message, Pastor Levi Marychurch provides this practical biblical advice on the power of our words and how to ensure that they are used to edify, and not tear one another down. Levi remarks that speech, when controlled, can be tremendously powerful, but when uncontrolled, it can be terribly destructive. He reminds us that our words reveal what is in our hearts. When our identity is rooted in Christ, he transforms our hearts and out of our mouths flow the words of people who build. Let us draw close to Jesus and ask the Holy Spirit to help us to be people who recognize the power of our words and use them to honour God and encourage one another.

We are often intimidated when trials and obstacles come our way; when in reality they should be approached with a joyful attitude, for through trials our faith is renewed. Commencing the first week of our study of the book of James, Pastor Levi touches on some of James’ most important teachings.

As a devoted servant of Christ, James teaches us about the importance of humility. He highlights the simple truth; that the only validation and recognition we need comes from God. Humility and thankfulness for what God has given us are the soil for a rich life. Pastor Levi brings two final elements to light, opportunity and perseverance. Both of which are crucial to welcoming trials as a part of walking and flourishing in the Christian life.

You're Not Alone in Your God Assignment

“Our calling is selfless, holy, and multifaceted: to do all things that God may be praised”.

We are often occupied with trying to determine our specific role or purpose, when really, our assignment is already clear. In this week’s message, Pastor Nadia Marychurch provides a fresh perspective on our callings as believers. Nadia reminds us that our calling is not a narrow task, but a heart position, and that we are not alone in our assignment. Our calling is to be faithful with what we were entrusted with to make God’s name great. For some of us, this may take the form of a specific season of assignment, like motherhood. In this special Mother’s Day message, Nadia beautifully weaves the story of Leah’s season of birthing through our individual journeys with God. She highlights that God sees us, hears us, and is close as we navigate how to live out our God assignment.

From the basement to officially launching as a church, Pastor Levi highlights the tremendous journey the church has embarked upon to this point and the incredible milestones it has held along the way. Levi reminds us in this message to stop, take stock and thank God. Whilst it is important to celebrate where the journey has taken us, God invites us to celebrate beginnings, however humble they may seem. We are encouraged to take a minute to be grateful for how far we have come and celebrate the moments in between, whilst continuing to dream and pray for the future. Our story is still being written. 

The Reluctant Priest

“Let your nagging questions draw you into the presence of royalty”.

In this week’s sermon, Pastor Levi Marychurch assures us that doubt is a natural obstacle, but one that we must learn to overcome to become the Family Priest that we are each called to be. He encourages us to channel the doubt with which we wrestle to go deeper in our relationships with the Lord in the same way that King David did. Levi proposes three thoughts to ease our reluctance to share the gospel that you are God’s plan, the right people are in your life, and you have a powerful ally. God has set us on a mission to share His love with those around us. In this season, will you bring your doubt before the Lord, draw near to Him and boldly embark on the journey from a Reluctant Priest to a Family Priest?

Are you equipped to articulate and defend your beliefs? In this message, Pastor Levi Marychurch reminds us that people are wondering where to find God in the middle of our current global crisis. As Christians, the people in our lives who don’t yet know God may turn to us, regarding us as “The Family Priest”, the one to whom they can turn for answers about what relationship with Christ means. Levi provides us with biblical guidance on how to answer for our faith through our words and actions and benchmarks to ensure that our answers are honouring Jesus and his sacrifice.
