The message of Christ, and that of Christmas, is simple; we had a relationship with God, but we were separated from God. But God has always had a plan to bring us back together with him.

Worst Case Scenario - Part 4

This week, Liberté City’s Mike Humphrey and Caleb Groeneweg conclude our Worst Case Scenario series. Using the early life of David (1 Samuel 17) as an example, Mike illustrates how we, too, can lean into God when we face trouble. We can stand on the promises He has given us, and allow Him to sustain us. Mike urges all of us to seek the Lord to get fresh revelation of the unique call and promises He has for our lives through prayer and wise counsel.

Caleb uses the story of Elisha and the King of Aram (2 Kings 6:8) to encourage us to inject a Heavenly perspective into our earthly situations. He gives us practical steps to do so, including: turning to Jesus first when we feel heavy burdens surrounding us; being open to a fresh perspective and new way of thinking; and fixing our eyes on where we want to go.

Pastor Nadia Marychurch continues our Worst Case Scenario series with a powerful message about taking hold of our thought patterns in order to experience victory and breakthrough in our lives. Drawing from a variety of scripture and using vivid illustrations, Nadia shows us how vital it is to humble ourselves and persevere in being transformed by the renewing of our minds. She cautions us that the movie of our mind will become the story of our life, isolation can be dangerous, and that some memories have simply got to go. You Thought It, He Lived It: Worst Case Scenario - Part 2

Pastor Levi Marychurch builds on last week’s Worst Case Scenario series introduction using observations from the life of Christ to reveal important habits we can adopt to lift our minds above worst-case scenario thinking. Jesus lived out the worst-case scenario – he was given a revolutionary mission to bring about a new way of living on earth, in exchange for dying a horrible death at the hands of those he loved. From his time on earth, we can see that Jesus took time to withdraw and pray, kept the main thing the main thing, and did not give up. Levi unpacks these habits with fresh relevance for us, and calls our attention to two enemies of our faith that we must guard ourselves against - unhealthy comparison and quitting.

This week, Pastor Levi Marychurch opens our new series: Worst Case Scenario. He introduces Colossians 3:1-3 as the series scripture and strategy to overcoming our human tendency to imagine the worst-case scenario. Levi explains how we create the world we live in by the thoughts we think, feelings we have, and decisions we make. He walks us through how we can turn from worry, fear and offence to always assuming the best, encouraging ourselves often, and dealing with hurt quickly. The Lord can strengthen us and help us take our thoughts captive, set our minds on things above, and transform our thinking to things that lift us to hope and joy.
